Why do I get charged for Sunday?

Many kennels are closed on Sundays, but as a courtesy to our customers, we have decided to provide checkout hours on Sunday afternoons. As animal lovers ourselves, we understand how eager you are to be reunited with your pet.

Rates are based on the day of boarding, not just as an overnight charge. Our staff begins tending to pet guests in our care at 6 a.m., so before you arrive for check out, your pet will have been fed, exercised, had his kennel area cleaned and, in some cases, have been bathed to prepare for going home. It is those services that you pay for when your pet stays until Sunday afternoon.

What vaccinations do you require?

We require proof that your dog is up to date on their Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella.  It is generally easiest to have your vet fax over the signed health certificate.  We recommend that the records are sent over well in advance of the stay in the event that there is something that needs to be updated.

Although we recommend administering the Bordetella vaccination at least 2 weeks prior to boarding, we require that it is administered at least 72 hours prior so it has enough time to take full effect.

Do you administer medication?

Yes, we will administer any necessary medication during your dog’s stay.  Please bring the well-labeled bottle along with detailed instructions.  There is a $2/day fee for administering tablet medication. All insulin shots are $10/administration.

My dog is on a special diet. Can I bring in my own food?

Our premium meal program at Hidden Acres consists of ProPlan and Eukanuba foods, which is included in your dog’s stay.  However, if your pet requires a special diet, we encourage you to bring their food when boarding. Our trained pet care assistants will follow your instructions to make sure your pet follows his regular diet. While we do not require it, pre-bagging each meal in separate bags labeled with your pet's name, helps ensure that your pet will receive the exact amount of food that you feed your companion at home.

What belongings can I bring with my pet?

At Hidden Acres, your pet’s comfort is our number one priority.  While we essentially have everything your pet would need during their stay here at Hidden Acres, you are welcome to bring a few comforts of home that you think might make your dog more comfortable.  All our suites are furnished with raised Kuranda beds, but you are welcome to bring a blanket or bed to put on top of the Kuranda bed.  We do ask that all bedding has been washed prior to their stay.  Toys or bones are also welcome.

Please be sure to mark your last name on any belongings with permanent ink. Your pets' toys will stay with them in their suites and we do our best to return all toys. We are not responsible for lost or destroyed beds or toys.

While my dog is boarding with you, will he be taken out for walks?

Starting with our Comfort suite package, we include at least one walk or playtime per day for each dog.  For walks, dogs are taken out on a 30 ft. retractable leash.  We are located on 40 scenic acres with miles of trails for your dog’s pleasure.  If a playtime is preferred, your dog can get off leash in one of our several large fenced in exercise areas.  During check-in, you will have an opportunity to specify what activities your dog would prefer during the stay.  You are also more than welcome to add an additional activity to your pets stay.  We offer additional Pooch Perks that range from a Water Fun to a Turn Down Service.  Click here to view a list of those services.
